Photo Shoot at New York Wine Co
Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at 10:46PM Last week I worked on a photo-shoot for New York Wine Co. This "European wine" only Tribeca store opened in December of 2006 and is under the direction of Derrick Mize and Rob Allen. Derrick and Rob both hailed from Mario Batali and Joseph Batstianich's Italian Wine Merchants.
New York Wine Co is a pretty sweet looking wine store. It's not overwhelmingly crowded with bottles of wine. There is about 70-90 different bottles represented on the floor and that is it. If you find something that you like, they have to walk down two flights of stairs to the temperature controlled cellar to gather your selection(s). I imagine and old French Sommelier walking down some cavernous stairs on the hunt for a famous bottle of a serious vintage Bordeaux.
What's also nice is that located in the back of the store, is a full kitchen and event space. You can host a party of 10 or up to 60 people for a sit down tasting menu or up to 80 guest for passed hors d'oeuvres.
I was the food stylist and worked along with Katherine Lahr (Executive Chef for New York Wine Co.) and Rick Lew (Famous Photographer). I just love it when I'm given some creative freedom.
Thanks Katherine!
