Red wine tasting goes bad, wife saves the day
Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 06:46PM Laurie and I visited my parents this passed Thanksgivings weekend. We decided to open up a bunch of red wines that my father had stored (some were gifts and some were purchased) away for the year. Well, let me tell you what a disappointment. In other words, Blaaaaahhh! The majority of wines that are sold are meant to be enjoyed right away. Many wines can lose their quaffablity in under a year. It is such a small percentage of wines that are aging worthy - of course a proper storage facility is needed for this.
The disenchanting wines came from all over the world; Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Argentinian Malbec, French Cotes du Rhone, Californian Cab and Merlot. A couple were unstable and I decanted them, some had passed there time (or they never had a time). What a let down! Prices ranged between $9.99 to $30. With all this left-over grape juice, what is one to do? Laurie (my intelligent and lovely wife) came up with a very simple and tasty solution. She made Sangria. Talk about making lemonade with lemons.
Recipe
- Bucket-O- Bad Wine
- White Rum
- Triple Sec
- Fresh Fruit Sliced
- Orange Juice
- Lots of Ice
Pour and Serve
Thanks Honey!
Beat boxing in the kitchen
Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at 07:55PM Thought this was very funny and had to share it with my loyal fans (ha!). Whenever I work at the food network, I sometimes imagine one of the celebrity chefs breaking into a totally crazy beat box routine. Unfortunately that has never happened nor do I think it ever will. I did however find a funny clip on YouTube. There is no celebrity chef here but this video is pretty funny, inventive and has satisfied my beat box fantasy (Come on Erio stay focused this is a serious, professional website/blog).
Enjoy!
